Cab Company: Muslim Driver Who Allegedly Ran Over College Students Stole Car

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Muslim cab driver who is being charged with attempted homicide after he allegedly tried to run over two college students after a religion dispute stole the cab he was driving and was pocketing the fares, the owner of the cab company told FOX News.

Ibrahim Ahmed, a 37-year-old Sunni Muslim from Somalia, tried to run over two college students near Vanderbilt University early Sunday morning after getting into the argument, police said. Ahmed picked up the two fares — college students visiting Nashville from Ohio — near the Vanderbilt campus, according to the incident report.

Capt. Mike Alexander of the Nashville Police Department said the two men were on their way back to the campus.

It was first believed that Ahmed worked for United Cab Co., but owner Roderick Brown told FOX News on Tuesday that he was not an employee and was fired last year after a high-speed chase with Nashville police.

MY FIRST IRANIAN

He was handsome – young and handsome – black eyes, long lashes and curly dark hair. He was soft spoken and polite. He looked into my eyes and smiled as he spoke to me. What’s that?* he asked, when I laughed out loud at his bold attempt to begin a conversation as I waited for the red light to change to green at the corner crosswalk.

I had been on my way to dance class in “The City”. To save money for a small treat after my usual Flamenco-filled Saturday with Maestro Jose de la Cruz, guitarists and other students, I walked from the bus terminal, as usual, to the basement dance studio.

I don’t remember his name, it was 42 years ago. I must have given him my telephone number sometime during the remainder of the walk to dance class. He may have waited for me and walked me to the bus station. He told me he was an Iranian student living in the area. I had been fascinated by all things “Middle Eastern” since the 4th grade, so I was interested in this handsome, very polite, proper and seemingly sincere handsome young man from the exotic east.

I don’t remember his name, but the one thing I do remember about him, is how driven he was. After one or two short telephone conversations, in the next few days, he showed up, very well dressed in suit and tie, at my parent’s front door. In his hands were a dozen red roses, which he presented to my mother.

Of course I had told my parents about his fascinating young man and in those days’ good parents insisted on meeting any young man their daughter was considering going on “a date” with. My Iranian was more than happy to speak mostly to my father that day, as my mother and I sat quietly listening to their short conversation. It soon became very apparent that he wished to marry me! Yes, that’s right.

Again, I don’t remember all the details, but I do remember that I was appalled when I realized he was trying to negotiate with my father to buy a bride! He so wanted an American wife, from a decent family, he said, a family who certainly could not turn down the bride price. Daddy must have seen the horror on my face as my parents and I certainly all realized what was going on. He stood up and invited my first Iranian to leave his home, never to return.

I soon forgot about the incident as I went on with my 1960’s innocent school girl ways. It wasn’t until about six years later that I met my second Iranian at Harrah’s Casino.


*What was it my first Iranian was referring to? It was the silver fillings in my upper and lower molars that he had never seen before. He was curious about the how and why of that metal dental work and that was the line.

Looking back at that day, I often wonder if all that silver would have gained my dad a better price for me, had we all succumbed to the charm and money of my first contact with the Iranian’s quests for American wives.

Australia's conservative prime minister slammed Barack Obama on Sunday over his opposition to the Iraq war, a day after the first-term U.S. senator announced his intention to run for the White House in 2008.

Obama said Saturday at his campaign kickoff in Springfield, Ill., that one of the country's first priorities should be ending the war in Iraq. He has also introduced a bill in the Senate to prevent President Bush from increasing American troop levels in Iraq and to remove U.S. combat forces from the country by March 31, 2008.

Australian Prime Minister John Howard, a staunch Bush ally who has sent troops to Iraq and faces his own re-election bid later this year, said Obama's proposals would spell disaster for the Middle East.

"You either rat on the ally or you stay with the ally," he said. "If it's all right for us to go, it's all right for the Americans and the British to go, and if everybody goes, Iraq will descend into total civil war and there'll be a lot of bloodshed."

Report on My Visit Yesterday with Border Patrol Agent Ramos in Yazoo Federal Prison Situation Worse Then We Thought

Dear Friend of My Presidential Campaign,
I want to give you a first-hand report of my trip yesterday to Yazoo Federal Prison in Jackson, Mississippi yesterday, to visit with former Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos.

As you know, Agent Ramos and his partner, Jose Alonso Compean, are serving long prison sentences for a border incident in which they wounded a illegal alien drug dealer they testified as being armed.

You've probably heard that Agent Ramos was badly beaten Saturday night in his prison cell. I traveled to Jackson, Mississippi, yesterday to see for myself. And I learned many new horrifying details. For one thing, his injuries were much more serious than have been reported. When I saw Ramos, I was literally astonished at the extent of the injuries on his body. Prison officials have been describing his injuries all week as "minor," but that clearly is not true.

In fact, Agent Ramos' bruises are deep and severe. His arm, chest and back are black and blue with broken blood vessels on his arm. Truthfully, it was a terrible sight. Here's what Ramos told me directly. He was assaulted Saturday night by roughly a half-dozen inmates who recognized him from an episode of a TV show that aired shortly before 10 p.m. He was pulled from his cell, which remains unlocked until midnight. The attackers, who were wearing steel-toed boots, kicked Ramos repeatedly. He did not get to see a doctor until WEDNESDAY, FOUR DAYS AFTER THE BEATING!

Prison official moved Ramos to a special cell in near-solitary confinement, and I am working to get him transferred to a safer facility. Representatives of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, of California, visited Yazoo Prison with me yesterday. When we asked to see photographs of Ramos as he appeared immediately after the beating, prison officials refused.

Federal prosecutors threw these Border Agents in prison while a Illegal Alien drug dealer walks free. And now, one of the agents is attacked viciously. WHERE IS THE JUSTICE!

My friends, I want to challenge you to do two things in response to the report you're reading here. First, I want you to go consider writing a card or letter of encouragement to Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos, now trying to recover in Yazoo Federal Prison. It's truly the very least we can do for him.

Second, I want to ask you to consider helping my presidential campaign again financially. Think about it this way. When Agents Ramos and Compean were thrown into prison for over a decade apiece, what were the other Republican Presidential hopefuls doing? Mitt Romney was refusing to ask for a pardon. John McCain, Sam Brownback, Chuck Hagel, and Rudy Giuliani were all continuing to press for Higher Immigration levels and Illegal Alien Amnesties.

It now comes to light that the agent who went into Mexico to give immunity to the drug smuggler who was shot by our border agents was a life-long friend of the smuggler! Outrageous!! A Conspiracy with reprecussions too numerous to mention here. But, if you give it some thought, you can imagine what it could mean to the average American citizen in the near future.

Four Department of Homeland Security officials have admitted they lied to Congressmen and everyone in general about what was said and done by our brave American border patrol agents.

And then there's Tony Snowjob, mouthpiece for our so-called President Dubya Bushy who arrogantly dismisses the facts of the case, choosing instead to believe the self confessed liars in the DHS!

Speaking of our President - he is quick to pardon convicted drug dealers, but will not even consider looking at the facts of this case. Congressman Rorbach is madder than a hornet over this travesty of justice and support of drug smugglers, and so is Congressman Tom Tancredo. Both have been working to get the president to pardon these men, but he refuses to budge!

Do we as a nation want the rule of law? Do we want our government to support law enforcement? Is our government now in collaboration with Mexico to destroy American soverienty? Do you want the USA turned into a lawless, third-world cesspool of violence?
